Quarantine Apple Crisp

I noticed that I had way more apples than what we would eat while staying at home focusing on isolation. So I put this recipe together for the kids (and adults) and it went over like a pack of party balloons!

Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 60 min
Total Time: 75 mins

Ingredients:

  • 6-8 small apples, peeled, cored and cut in slices

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 1/4 cup whole wheat flour or almond flour

  • 1/4 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tso baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats

  • 1 TBS salted butter

  • 1 TBS brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and prepare apples by peeling, coring, and cutting in slices (I used honey crisp apples for this recipe).

  2. Melt butter.

  3. Combine all ingredients on bowl and (except oats and brown sugar) and mix well (reserve 1 tsp of butter for topping).

  4. Spray a 9x9 glass baking dish with canola oil blend and put the mixture of apples and other ingredients in pan afterwards.

  5. Top with oats and brown sugar and drizzle with the remaining butter.

  6. Bake for at least 30 minutes, allowing the mixture to bubble, then increase temp to 425 to brown the top. Bake another 5 minutes.
